Estimating water surface evaporation losses under floating coverage: Modeling and Application

•A wind function with the fetch of the pore water surface and wind speed as independent variables is established.•The water column equilibrium temperature per unit area of the water body under floating coverage is established.•The established evaporation combination model can better quantify water surface evaporation under floating coverage.
