Abstract
This study analyzes the use of active methodologies in secondary mathematics classrooms between October 2019 and January 2023. Through a validated questionnaire as a measurement instrument, the pedagogical techniques adopted in secondary education environments within the area of mathematics. From a total of 803 responses, it was identified that Project-Based Learning and Problem-Based Learning, both focused on group work, are the methodologies most favored by teachers to promote competency-oriented learning. However, despite its relative popularity, its actual implementation is limited, contrasting with a more traditional methodology that puts the teacher and the content at the center. This finding suggests the need to reflect on the barriers and limitations in the adoption of more active and student-centered teaching techniques in the field of secondary mathematics education.
