Abstract
•Biochar (BC400) was prepared by pyrolysis of bagasse at optimal temperature.•Effective adsorption of bisphenol A (BPA) from water using BC400 was observed.•BPA adsorption followed pseudo second order kinetics and Freundlich isotherm.•Plausible mechanism of BPA adsorption onto BC400 was unraveled.
