•There is a lack of research on Dora and cognition at present, and this article makes up for its shortcomings.•Animal experiments have proved that Dora can slightly improve cognition, but the clinical evidence is insufficient.•This paper also involves the safety of Dual orexin receptor antagonists, Zopiclone, Eszopiclone, Zolpidem sleep and sleeping drug treatment.
