摘要
In Romania, the competent public health institutions registered a trend of reducing mortality through ischemic heart disease, although at a much slower pace compared to other European states. However, Romania is still in a superior position for several cardiovascular disease indicators. The epidemic of obesity and diabetes threatens to reduce the rate of success so far. Also, if progress has been made in reducing the prevalence of smoking, it appears to have slowed down, and in addition to smoking, sedentary lifestyles and poor blood pressure control remain important problems that require urgent intervention. According to statistics, less than 50% of Romania’s population consumes fruits and vegetables daily, so there is an insufficient supply of fiber and antioxidants in the diet. The prevalence of physical inactivity is higher among women (45%) compared to men (40%). The risk of a cardiovascular event, but also of death from a cardiovascular cause, increases with age. However, cardiovascular events are occurring more and more often at younger ages.
