摘要
Hysterosalpingo-foam-sonography (HyFoSy) is a technique used in investigating infertility and tubal patency, being an accessible, minimally invasive examination method and easily accepted by the patient. The objective of this article is to present our experience in using HyFoSy, emphasising on technical tips and tricks in order to obtain better pregnancy outcomes, to minimise the pain, to improve the technique and communicate our pregnancy-obtaining rate after this intervention. This is an observational study including 672 infertile patients whose tubal patency was assessed using HyFoSy. The aspect and tubal patency were noted during procedure and information about the level of pain and pregnancy obtaining rate in the first 3 months and after 3 months were obtained using a telephonic questionnaire. With a median age of 33,5 years, the majority of patients (61,16%) were evaluated using HyFoSy in the 8-10 days of the menstrual cycle. In 86% of cases tubal patency was present bilaterally. In 11% of cases tubal permeability was present unilaterally, and only 8% of patients described HyFoSy as a very painful procedure. 10,86% of patients naturally obtained a pregnancy within the first 3 months after HyFoSy. HyFoSy is a useful tool in evaluating female infertility. It offers important data about permeability, regularity, site of tubal occlusion and pathway aspects. This diagnostic method is feasible, practical and it involves low levels of pain and it should be used as a first line infertility evaluation technique as a routine transvaginal ultrasonography.
