AbstractIn Mali, in 2016 out of a total population estimated at 18,341,000 inhabitants, 14,408,969 people practicedagricultural activities. In 2016, out of 8,849,551 tonnes of cereals produced on 5,504,917 ha, that of maize wasestimated at 2,811,385 tonnes out of 1,031,522 ha (CPS / SDR, 2016). That is, 31.77% of the total cerealproduction. However, carrot production, a source of food and cash income, must be increased by masteringcultivation and varietal techniques. World production of carrot (Daucus carota L.) was 35.5 million tonnes / year(FAO, 2014). According to the (DNA, 2017), from Mali, the national carrot production was 15,805 tonnes for anarea of 999 ha. The low fertility of the soils and the lack of mastery of cultivation techniques considered to beone of the factors limit carrot production. The objective of this work is to demonstrate the behavior of twovarieties of carrot with respect to density. The Shakira and New Kuroda varieties constituted the plant materialand the methodology concerned the sowing density. The experimental set-up used is the three-repeat Fisherblock with two factors studied: density and variety. The biometric measurements covered the diameter at thecrown, the height and the number of leaves of the plants. The lowest number of leaves was obtained by Shakira20 with 2.33 followed by New Kuroda 30, New Kuroda 20 and Sh 30 respectively 2.66 each. The Shakira 30treatment gave the largest root diameter with 3.63 cm, followed by New Kurada 20 with 3.58 cm. The NewKuroda30 treatment recorded the highest plant height at 44.98cm followed by the New Kuroda 20 treatment at42.62cm and the Shakira 20 treatment gave the lowest height at 40.2cm. The Shakira 30 treatment had thehighest yield with 61.33 t / ha and New Kuroda 30 had the lowest yield with 38.83 t / ha.
