Abstract
Myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) are characterized by profound heterogeneity in morphologic presentation, clinical course and cytogenetic features. Karyotype is the most important diagnostic and prognostic parameter in these patients and is abnormal in about 50% of MDS patients.
