Abstract
Topical preparations continue to play an important role in the treatment of various skin diseases. The therapeutic effect of topical drugs, however, depends not only on the mechanism of action of the active substance itself or its concentration, but also on the proper selection of the type of vehicle determined by the nature of the eruptions and the body area on which the formulation is applied. The proper vehicle maximizes the ability of a drug to penetrate through the outer layers of the skin, and in addition, due to its physical properties, may itself possess some therapeutic properties. One form of topical drug are aerosols. Aerosols are characterized by convenient application, evenly distribution of the drug on the skin, and the pressure packaging protects the drug from the influence of external factors. In the treatment of skin diseases in the form of aerosols most commonly are used corticosteroids, antibiotics, antifungal agents and combined formulations.
