Physiological Response of Two Different Wheat Genotypes to PEG Stress

The relative water content,proline content,malondialdehyde(MDA) content,superoxide dismutase(SOD) activity and catalase(CAT) activity in two wheat genotypes were studied during seedling period under PEG-6000 osmotic stress.The results indicated that the relative water content in Shaanhe wheat is higher than that in Zhengyin under PEG treatment.The proline content in Shaanhe increased with the increase of PEG stress except 24 h treatment.The proline content in Zhengyin increased firstly then declined except 12 h treatment.In the same PEG concentration,the accumulation of MDA and membrane injury in Shaanhe was lower than Zhengyin.Activities of SOD and CAT were increased firstly and then decreased with the increasing PEG treatment for both wheat genotypes.
