Abstract
Edge chamfering rolling (ECR) is a variable wedge angle in both the transversal direction (TD) and normal direction (ND). A new method for rolling sheets with various chamfering amount in the TD (0, 2 mm, 4 mm, 6 mm, 8 mm) and ND (2 mm) is investigated in this paper. The technological process was simulated by FEM to test its feasibility and compared to conduct experiments. Three significant process parameters, temperature, stress, and flow velocity were adopted to evaluate chamfering amount on their effects before the optimal angle was confirmed. The edge crack and spread of rolled chamfered sheet were tested with different experiments and theory, and the spread formula of chamfered plate rolling was obtained to evaluate the shape quality of the plate after ECR.
