Abstract
Even though co-creation is mostly considered in the context of product and service development in business-to-consumer relations, the approach can very well be applied when production resources are targeted by collaborative problem solving, and a manufacturer takes the role of the customer. However, exploring partly unknown solutions to partly undefined problems does bear risks, requiring a shielding of live production from potential damages. The paper examines a possible solution to such challenges in the form of pilot factories and learning factories by presenting and discussing the structure and selected use cases of an example facility from the perspective of co-creation and its infrastructural support.
