Continuous dark fermentation by industrial food wastewater: the effect of hydraulic retention time on hydrogen production and microbial variation
Biomass Conversion and Biorefinery(2023)
Abstract
In this study, we performed co-digestion of industrial food wastewater in a hybrid upflow anaerobic sludge blanket (HUASB) reactor by dark fermentation (DF). Hydraulic retention times (HRT) of 3, 8, and 12 h at a minimum of 30 cycles were tested to determine their effects on hydrogen production and microbial population diversity. The results indicated that HRTs of 3, 8, and 12 h produced hydrogen concentrations of 45 ± 10
