Towards Deep UV Spectroscopy with a High-Power Single-Cavity Dual-Comb Thin-Disk Oscillator

Recent advances in the field of dual-comb spectroscopy (DCS) are often based on single-cavity concepts due to the excellent mutual noise suppression [1], [2]. Here, we present results with a MW-level peak power dual-comb oscillator based on thin-disk technology. The dual-comb laser shows excellent mutual coherence thanks to its single-cavity design [3]. The high output peak power simplifies nonlinear frequency conversion profoundly, which paves the way toward deep UV dual-comb spectroscopy. In this spectral domain, DCS promises an increase of spectral resolution compared to grating-based spectrometers of 6 orders of magnitude and synchrotron-based spectrometers of 2 orders of magnitude [4].
