Abstract
Anti-resonant fibres (ARFs) have a microstructure comprising a hollow core surrounded by a cladding formed of thin webs of glass. Light propagates through the hollow core of ARFs, allowing them to guide light without the limitations imposed by the optical properties of the glass. ARFs therefore have the potential to guide light with lower nonlinearity, higher damage threshold, lower latency, and lower attenuation than conventional solid fibres [1]. Great strides have been made over the past decade in improving the optical properties of ARFs [2]. However, only a fraction of the possible ARF microstructures have been explored.
