Abstract
In this paper, a wideband omnidirectional vertically polarized patch antenna is proposed. This antenna is composed of seven microstrip patch antennas with the coplanar L-shaped probe. Seven horizontally polarized microstrip antennas are arranged rotationally symmetrically to form the rotationally symmetrical current distribution in the horizontal plane, which can produce a vertically polarized omnidirectional radiation pattern. The proposed antenna has an impedance bandwidth of 28.9% (VSWR $\leqslant 2$ ) from 5.62 to 7.52 GHz, and has an out-of-roundness of less than 0.1 dB in the H-plane. The antenna has a good application prospect in the satellite communication of UAVs.
