Surface Charging Behaviors on GIS Basin-type Insulators under AC-DC Composite Voltage

This paper investigates surface charging of insulators in small GIS under AC/DC voltage through experiments and proposes methods to restrain surface charge accumulation. Results indicate that surface charging process of insulator surface is influenced by the AC component, with increased amplitude leading to enhanced charging and increased opposite charge. Surface uniform fluorinated insulators were prepared. The surface charge distribution of fluorinated insulators under AC/DC voltage are tested. It can be seen that that increasing surface conductivity improves the surface charge distribution, resulting in lower surface charge density and more uniform overall distribution of electrical fluorinated insulators.
