Review of research on load forecasting methods for smart grid

With the addition of a large number of loads in the distribution network and the optimal scheduling of power systems,the problem of dynamic balance between the supply side and the demand side has been paid more and more attention. As an important way to solve the problem, accurate load forecasting can not only ensure the safe and reliable operation of the system, but also improve the utilization rate of power generation and avoid the waste of power resources. This paper first discusses the types of power load forecasting and the load forecasting framework.The forecasting framework is developed according to four modules, namely data collection, feature extraction, characteristic analysis and final load forecasting application; Then, according to the analysis of electricity load characteristics, the residential load characteristic index system is established in three dimensions of day, month and year, and discusses the mainstream feature extraction methods; Finally, the characteristics of various load forecasting methods are summarized and analyzed.
