Optimization of Quantum Current Beam Modulator Based on Electron Gun

Producing high-quality and high-stability electron beams is the key to achieve current quantization by using a novel method based on particle accelerator techniques. In this context, a high-quality electron gun is designed to follow-up analysis. To generate a stable electron beam and maintain a good laminar flow, a solenoid coil is chosen to constrain the beam spread in transverse directions after extracted from the gun. For the problem of the fringe magnetic fields induced by the coil, methods of adding shielding and bucking coil are compared and analyzed. Through simulation, the damage of the fringe magnetic field to the quality of the beam extracted by the electron gun can effectively be solved, which shows this study provides a scheme for generating high quality and high stability electron beams.
