Analysis of Measurement Accuracy for Stereovision Systems with Different Configurations

The accuracy of visual measurement is different for stereovision systems with different configurations since the perspective characteristics of camera. In this paper, two typical stereovision configurations including the parallel configuration and the orthogonal configuration are selected to investigate their measurement accuracies. The visual measurement models are established for these two typical configurations. Their measurement accuracies are analyzed in theory. The accuracy along the optical axis direction is much lower than the accuracy on the plane vertical to the optical axis for the stereovision system with the parallel configuration. The accuracies in any directions are at the same level for the stereovision system with the orthogonal configuration. The results of measurement experiments verify the conclusion of theoretical analysis.
