Experimental Study on EMI Gasket Shielding Performance Degradation Under Corrosion Conditions

In engineering practice, gaps are often the main way to cause electromagnetic leakage of chassis, and EMI gaskets are often filled in gaps as shielding materials to restore the integrity of chassis shielding, which plays an important role in suppressing chassis electromagnetic leakage. In high temperature, high humidity, high salt spray and other environments, the corrosion degradation of EMI gaskets can easily cause the shielding performance of the equipment to decline, the electromagnetic environment to deteriorate, and the collapse and failure of the system. In this paper, the degradation mechanism of EMI gaskets under corrosion conditions is theoretically analyzed, and a variety of material gaskets are selected for salt spray corrosion test, and the shielding effectiveness of corrosion samples is characterized by measuring the transfer impedance, and then the degradation degree of shielding performance of EMI gaskets is studied, revealing the law of gradual deterioration of EMI gasket shielding performance with the deepening of corrosion degree.
