Abstract
Soft magnetic materials find applications in power electronics as cores of passive components, such as transformers and inductors. In these components, it is necessary to balance efficiency, volume, and operating temperature. New design methodologies use advanced magnetic modelling of the magnetic cores and the optimization of their properties. Therefore, one key area of research is the development of new methods for predicting iron loss under non-sinusoidal and DC-biased conditions and high frequencies. This approach includes loss decomposition theory to model soft ferrites and amorphous/nanocrystalline ribbons.
