Abstract
Solar is a widely used non-conventional source of energy and artificial neural network (ANN) along with it can result in better system performance in extracting maximum power. So, an ANN-based solar panel is used which is then connected to a zeta converter to step up the voltage. This DC voltage is further fed to a bidirectional voltage source inverter (VSI). A battery is also connected along input of VSI. The AC voltage generated by VSI is supplied to the electric vehicle’s motor. The BLDC motors are widely used motors in electric vehicles due to their certain advantages over other motors. When this motor is in motoring mode both the solar panel and the battery deliver power to the motor and when brakes are applied or the motor is decelerated, the energy is stored back into the battery. A MATLAB model is prepared by using ANN based solar panel, zeta converter, bidirectional VSI, battery, and BLDC motor. This paper validates the above-proposed system along with the condition when solar energy is not available or during nighttime.
