Abstract
Edge data centers (EDCs) efficiently serving latency-sensitive services and improving user experience are expected to be widely deployed in network edge. However, the conventional EDCs based on electric switches have bottlenecks in capacity, latency, and energy consumption due to the limit of Moore’s law. In this paper, we consider an all-optical switching-based EDC (AO-EDC) and address the distributed services provisioning problem in the context of an edge data center network (EDCN) made up of AO-EDC. Different service provisioning strategies, including network resource aware (NRA), computing power aware (CPA), and aggregated resource aware (ARA), are considered, respectively. Simulation results show that our proposed strategy can significantly improve the network performance in terms of overall task completion time (TCT) and load balance between different AOEDCs.
