Validation of Ace Aquatec Intelligent Biomass Estimation System

Accurate estimation of fish biomass is essential for the efficient management of fish populations in aquaculture, as it helps to optimize feeding and stocking practices, control stocking densities, and determine the best time for harvesting. To achieve this, Ace Aquatec has developed an AI-driven system that uses stereoscopic cameras to estimate fish biomass in real-time. This study validates the accuracy of the Ace Aquatec Intelligent Biomass Estimation System through two experiments: Inhouse and Customer Farm. The Inhouse experiment involved capturing fish images at different distances from the system and collecting fish length, height, and mass data for 30 minutes at each distance. The statistical analysis demonstrated that the system’s accuracy in estimating fish length, height, and mass was highly precise and close to the actual values. In the Inhouse experiment, the system achieved an impressive accuracy of 99.44%, 98.46%, and 98.33% for fish length, height, and mass, respectively. Furthermore, the system’s accuracy was also tested in the Customer Farm experiment, where it was utilized for real-time fish biomass estimation. The results revealed that the system achieved high accuracy levels of 98.73%, 96.12%, and 99.80% for fish length, height, and mass, respectively. These results demonstrate that the Ace Aquatec Intelligent Biomass Estimation System accurately estimates fish biomass, which can aid in optimizing feeding, controlling stocking densities, and determining the best time for harvesting. The system offers a reliable, efficient, and real-time solution for estimating fish biomass, which can contribute significantly to the sustainability of aquaculture practices. By enabling better management of fish populations, it reduces the risks of under or overfeeding and overcrowding, thus promoting fish welfare and sustainability.
