Abstract
The study aims to increase the power density of the Synchronous Reluctance Motor (SynRM). The power density of the motor can be increased in many different ways. This study describes the improvement of the motor cooling system by replacing the shaft-mounted fan to circulate the air (IC 01) cooling system with a novel Loop Heat Pipe (LHP) cooling system. By improving the motor cooling system, it is possible to increase the current and reduce external dimensions - length subsequently, increase the power density of the motor. Increasing the current inevitably reduces the efficiency by increasing the electrical losses, and a higher magnetic flux density causes an increase in the magnetic losses.
