Abstract
Light Emitting Diode has replaced conventional lighting methods due to its meritorious advantages such as high color efficacy, longer lifespan, better thermal and mechanical resistance to shock. The application of LED is not just limited to lighting. It is nowadays used to control data, generate carbon credit, it support photosynthesis in certain environments, act as an alternate source to laser light, etc. The circuit that LED operates on is known as LED driver. Over the course of time, various changes have been made in the driver circuit to meet the desired standards for running the LED. This paper talks about some of the different AC-DC LED driver circuits, power factor requirements in LED drivers, regulations and standards, various testing standards, and some of latest trends and diversions in LED. This paper is expected to be a referenced to the researchers working in the field of LEDs and related characteristics.
