Abstract

We report ytterbium-doped LMA fibers with ~30μ and ~40μ cores and a record-low NA of 0.028, i.e. ΔN=2.7times;10 ^-4 critical for overcoming transverse-mode-instability threshold in single-mode fiber lasers and made possible by an innovative fabrication process.
