Analysis of Cylindrical Conformal Phased Array Based on Phase Mode Theory

In this paper, considering the difficulty of full-wave simulation caused by the large computational requirements, complex structure and non-uniform excitation of cylindrical conformal array antenna, a method based on the phase mode theory is applied to solve the problem, in which, the non-uniform cylindrical conformal array can be decomposed into multiple uniform cylindrical conformal arrays, then periodic structure simulation can be applied to reduce the complexity of the problem. Finally, the simulation results of different modes are superimposed to realize the fast and accurate simulation of non-uniform cylindrical conformal array. At last, the algorithm is verified by simulation and synthesis of a microstrip conformal array.
