Design of a Dual-Polarized Reconfigurable Reflectarray with Beam-Scanning

A novel dual-polarized reconfigurable reflectarray is proposed, in which four asymmetric cross-shaped patch elements are connected to the middle square patch element via PIN diodes to achieve independent horizontal and vertical polarization control. The simulated results show that the proposed unit cell has good performance in all four phase states, and the average insertion loss at 5.5 GHz is about 1.5 dB. A 10×10 reconfigurable reflectarray is designed and simulated, and the results show that the array can achieve a beam scan range of ±60°.
