Abstract
Two-dimensional Mini-LED local dimming can achieve high dynamic range (HDR) and better black state, greatly improving the display image quality. This paper analyzes the influence of the halo characteristics of Mini-LED backlight with different local dimming partitions on the display image, establishes a local dimming simulation algorithm model, and applies the evaluation function to the target image to find the local area where HVS (human vision system) is more likely to detect the halo artifact. These local areas were analyzed and numerical simulation and human eye perception limit were carried out to suppress the halo to a degree that is difficult to distinguish. The experimental results show that this halo evaluation algorithm can find the area with serious halo artifacts well, and has important theoretical guidance basis and application prospect for the design of Mini-LED backlight partition.
