A Novel Low-profile Wide-angle Scanning Balanced Antipodal Vivaldi Antenna

In this paper, a novel ultra wideband, wide-angle scanning balanced Antipodal Vivaldi antenna (BAVA) is proposed, which has the characteristics of wide-bandwidth, miniaturization, low profile and low cross polarization. The antenna is improved on the basis of the traditional BAVA antenna, and the shape of the radiation patch is optimized, which effectively improves the broadband impedance matching performance. Further research shows that the coupling effect can be enhanced by optimizing the array layout of the two orthogonal elements, so that the impedance bandwidth of 4.1:1 can be obtained. In addition, through the symmetrical placement of cells, the asymmetry of cells can be offset and the cross polarization level can be effectively reduced.
