Abstract
In this work, soft flexible fabric electrodes are integrated with a mouthguard and applied for intra-oral acquisition of Electrooculogram (EOG) signal. The skin-electrode impedance of the flexible fabric electrodes are measured and compared to that of the standard gold flat electrodes on both the forehead (typical EOG electrode position) and inside mouth on the mouthguard. It was found that comparing to the gold electrodes, the flexible fabric electrodes have similar impedance on the forehead and lower impedance inside mouth. The intra-oral EOG signals acquired with the flexible fabric electrodes from two participants show that the obtained EOG signals can successfully determine and distinguish between different eye activities. The comfortable fabric electrodes integrated with the mouthguard will have the potential for EOG monitoring during sleep.
