A review of the artificial intelligence based transient stability assessment for new power system

The application of wide-area measurement systems in power grids is increasing in recent years, which has unique advantages on using the dynamic data in power system analysis, prediction and classification with artificial intelligence (AI) and other methods. This provides a broad development prospect for the technical based on dynamic data in complex problems such as transient analysis and control in the power system. This paper first analyses the basic methods and processes of power system transient stability assessment based on dynamic data, provides a comprehensive overview of the current status of the research on the application of artificial intelligence on power angle stability analysis, and discusses the problems and challenges faced by new power system transient stability under the situation of the increasing of new energy sources and the power electronics. Finally, the development trend of data-driven analysis methods and their application in power-angle stability problems are prospected.
