Grid Optimization Based on Sensitivity Analysis for Limiting Short-circuit Current of Power System

With the increasing scale of the power system, short-circuit current (SCC) of power system is growing. This paper proposes a grid optimization model based on sensitivity analysis considering three strategies to limit SCC, including transmission switching, transmission line unconnected to substation, generator outage. In the model, three strategies are modeled as admittance matrix transformation by the Adding Branch Method, which is also an efficient method to calculate the sensitivities for limiting SCC in various strategies. This paper studies the effect of each strategy on SCC limiting. On this basis, a set of measures to limit SCC is determined by the maximum value of comprehensive sensitivity coefficient. The grid optimization model leads to a mixed integer linear programming (MILP), considering power flow constraints and power supply and demand balance constraints. The effectiveness of the grid optimization model is verified by several case studies, which are including IEEE 57-bus test system and local Henan Power System.
