Abstract
Energy efficiency is one of the solutions to reduce greenhouse gases (GHG) emissions. In the building sector, one of the world's main polluters, the concepts of Nearly Zero Energy Buildings (NZEB) and Zero Energy Buildings (ZEB) have emerged in order to meet the environmental and climate targets for 2030 and 2050. The paper studies the NZEB concept, the criteria for meeting the standard in buildings, the legislation at European level and specifically on the envelope side of the residential building, analyzing for several types of insulation materials whether or not they meet the standards.
