A Broadband Dual-polarized Base Station Antenna

Abstract
A broadband dual-polarized antenna has been proposed for 4G base station application. The antenna element operates at 1.75-3.03GHz and its realized gain maintains at 8.34± 1.4dBi across the whole band. The broadband characteristic is achieved by special structure of the radiator patch and the coupling between the C-shaped feeding probe and the branch-shaped radiator patch. The antenna achieved the ± 45° dual polarization by the coaxial line and a pair of C-shaped feeding probes. In addition, a four-element uniform linear array has also been proposed that works at 1.74-3.09GHz. By adding the metal baffle, the port isolation between the antenna elements has been greatly improved. In a word, having the advantage of broadband and high port isolation, this broadband antenna can perfectly meet the requirements of the base station.
