A Dual-Input Wide-Range RF-DC Rectifier with 72.4% Peak Efficiency for RF Energy Harvesting

This paper presents a dual-input wide dynamic power range, high power converting efficiency (PCE) rectifier implemented in a 180nm standard CMOS technology. First of all, a novel fully crossed-couple rectifier is designed for achieving low sensitivity and high efficiency in low input power. Besides, through detecting the output voltage, the proposed rectifier will switch between the low-power rectifier and the high-power rectifier to maintain high converting efficiency in a large dynamic power range. The proposed rectifier operates at 915MHz and the simulation results show that, with the loading resistance of 120kΩ, the dynamic power range is 15.04dB. The peak power converting efficiency reaches 72.4% with an input power of -9.8dBm. Furthermore, with the output voltage of 1V and a 1MΩ loading resistance, the proposed circuit has a sensitivity of -19.3dBm.
