Research on Nonlinear UAV Airborne Frequency Diverse Array Radar

Compared with the traditional phased array radar, the frequency diversity array (FDA) radar is a new type of radar, which has the advantage of range dimension information, but has the problem of periodic coupling of angle and range. This paper studies the FDA radar with nonlinear frequency offset to reduce the above coupling effects. Firstly, the reason of FDA radar pattern coupling is analyzed by beamforming theory; Secondly, the technology of using nonlinear frequency offset method to weaken FDA coupling is studied; Finally, the range performance of FDA radar and the weakening of the periodic coupling of angle and range of nonlinear frequency offset FDA radar are compared and analyzed by simulating the angle formation of array guidance vector and array pattern. The nonlinear FDA airborne radar applied to UAV can solve the problem of pattern coupling caused by linear frequency increase. The experimental results show that FDA radar has the advantage of range information; Nonlinear FDA can alleviate the pattern coupling problem caused by linear frequency increase.
