Abstract
In this, a compact aperture coupled single band microstrip patch antenna (MPA) is presented for Sub-6 GHz 5G applications. The microstrip patch antenna is loaded with two V-shape of slots including edge cuttings symmetrically on either side. The edge cuttings are used to bring down the resonating frequency to a lower value. A further degradation in operating frequency is noted by introducing two V-shape of slots into the radiating patch symmetrically. In addition, a drastic improvement in return loss performance has also been noted. The operating frequency was observed to be 3.48 GHz frequency which lies within the operating band of the lower-5G band which is 3.3-3.6 GHz in range. Two RO4003 Rogers substrates of dielectric constant 3.55, that are 1.524 mm thin and have a lossTano of 0.0027 is selected for the proposed antenna's design. A ground plane is used to isolate two substrates by placing them in between them. A circular aperture is created in the bottom layer for an electromagnetic linking. A feed is placed beneath the lower substrate. The intended antenna omni radiational features demonstrates that the modelled aerial is appropriate to obtain any over any direction and it is suitable for RFEH applications. The simulated aerial is operating within 3.44-3.52 GHz band and it is suitable for 5G RFEH applications.
