Analysis and Magnetic Field Calculation Method for Motor With Saliency

The effect of the salient rotor on magnetic field is important for the performance of propulsion motors with saliency. Thus, a novel analytical model and a fast calculation method for magnetic field considering the saliency and slot effect are proposed. Also, the different effects of the structure with saliency on the d- and q-axis magnetic field and corresponding rules are investigated. The calculation, the analysis process of d- and q-axis magnetic fields, and the mapping relationship between their difference and energy conversion are elaborated on load. Finally, the accuracy and adaptability of the proposed analysis and calculation method are verified by a finite-element analysis (FEA) under the combination of various parameters. According to the rule of error distribution, the reason for the difficulty in analyzing the motor with saliency is explained. Also, the results show that the proposed one is in good agreement with the results of FEA in a wide range of parameters.
