Resource scarcity priming and face perception: A preregistered conceptual replication of Study 1 of Rodeheffer et al. (2012) in Japan

•Rodeheffer et al. (2012) showed that scarcity priming affects face perception.•The generalizability was untested, and the replicability was unclear.•We conducted a preregistered conceptual replication of Rodeheffer et al. (2012).•The sample size was almost ten times larger than the original study.•The priming effect was insignificant (d = 0.10).
