Field monitoring in coastal basin to detect annual trends of hydrodynamics and physical parameters

Monitoring the physical processes occurring in a coastal basin as well as its water quality status is pivotal for proper coastal management operations. In this study we show the main trends of wind, wave, currents, temperature, salinity and dissolved oxygen measured during the whole year 2018 in a target area located in Southern Italy, very sensitive because exposed to heavy human pressure. Typical trends are derived from data processing, which generally confirm previous analyses, especially based on comparisons with analogous data acquired in the year 2014. An annual recurrence in the dynamics of the coastal basin is deduced. In some cases, changes in typical patterns are observed, deserving additional future analysis, as they could be related also to climate change effects.
