摘要
In conclusion, imaging plays a central role in prompt diagnosis of large vessel vasculitis. Ultra -sound is a first imaging choice for giant cell arteritis due to its high accuracy for the diagnosis and its accessibility, which is key due to the need for rapid diagnosis. VWI may play an increasingly greater role in both the diagnosis and follow-up of large vessel vasculitis. It helps guide treatment approaches and evaluate treatment response and confers a considerable advantage over luminal techniques such as DSA, CTA, and MRA. As the use of VWI widens, detection of pre-stenotic inflammation may help establish diagnosis earlier and improve patient outcomes with avoidance of late-stage disease complications, including blindness, stenosis, occlusion, and aneurysm formation.
