Boron nitride nanosheet modified amperometric biosensor for uric acid determination

•Boron nitride nanosheets and uricase enzyme with together modified SPE were prepared.•This biosensor was used first time in literature for the determination of uric acid.•The developed biosensor showed a broad linear measurement range, a low LOD, and great sensitivity.•High selectivity, excellent shelf life, and commercial serum samples a good recovery was provided.•An enzyme-based biosensor demonstrated promise in the field of point of care or real-time measurement.
