Mapping hydrothermal alteration of the Pulang porphyry copper deposit, SW China, using ASTER and ZY1-02D satellite data

•In this study, we applied the measured spectrum of rock samples collected at the Pulang porphyry copper deposit for mapping alteration.•The Chinese ZY1-02D satellite remote sensing data were utilized to map serisite, chlorite and epidote minerals successfully.•Six new brownfield exploration target zones were delineated in Pulang porphyry copper deposit.
