摘要

•Colmonoy 6 coating was effectively deposited on SS304 stainless steel using PTA method.•Wear and friction behavior were studied at nano-scale using AFM.•Despite being harder than the substrate, the coatings showed poor wear resistance.•Nanoscale wear behavior was governed by interfacial shear strength rather than material hardness.
