Effect of Nursing Care on Improvement in Quality Life After Bone Surgery Recovery in Orthopedic Patients

. The present study aimed to investigate the effect of nursing on rehabilitation after surgery in orthopedic patients. The patients in the observation group were provided with accelerated rehabilitation nursing during the period of the perioperative procedure. In this case, a nursing management group was designed by the orthopedic doctor so that accelerated rehabilitation surgery protocol is implemented successfully. The nursing group consisted of a leader (head nurse) and one supervisor (nurse having minimum of 5 years of experience) and assisting nurses. The results demonstrated that the patients in the nursing observation group had shorter average stays in the hospital, short in-bed activity duration, and their treatment was economical compared to those in the routine orthopedic nursing group. The In-bed activities time for control and observation groups was 14.54 +/- 2.13 and 5.32 +/- 1.87 h, respectively whereas under-bed activities time for control and observation groups was 6.76 +/- 1.56 and 2.87 +/- 0.63 days, respectively. Moreover, various types of infections such as incision infection, UTI infection, respiratory tract infections and other related complications were also prevented in the nursing observation group compared to the patients in routine orthopedic nursing group. The patient recovery rate and recovery score in the nursing observation group of patients was found to be much higher compared to the routine orthopedic nursing patients. In conclusion, nursing plays an important role in the postoperative recovery of bone surgery patients and improves the quality of life.
