Abstract

•Sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) was intercalated into layered double hydroxides (LDHs).•The compatibility of LDHs in SMB was enhanced after SDS intercalated modification.•SDS organic LDHs (OLDHs) showed better improvement on the ageing resistance of SMB.•OLDHs was useful to reduce the oxidation reaction probability of SMB during ageing.
