摘要

•Therapeutic effects of MBE on colitis-related neuropsychiatric disorders are studied.•MBE improved weight loss, colon length shortening, and cell death.•MBE ameliorated depression and anxiety-like behaviors, restoring serotonin levels.•MBE reduced the excessive activation of hippocampal microglia and astrocytes.•The potential of MBE to alleviate depression and anxiety is significant.
